The art of using lipliner, the line you don't want to cross!

Lips draw the eyes of others and beg to be accented and painted. Lipliner highlights lips and is used to outline and make the mouth appear larger. It adds staying power to your lipstick and prevents it from feathering. Many women like to use lipliner to define their lips and they believe it to make their lips appear more eye-catching. It can be said that there is no mouth so polished, no lipstick so long lasting, no lip balm so intense, that hasn't been nourished with a lipliner base.

It is not often that lipliner is used on its own. It is more often used in conjunction with lipstick. The two are color coordinated with the liner generally being darker than the lipstick. Learning to properly apply liner is not always an easy thing. It is recommended that you first gently trace the outline of the lips and then shade it in darker. Never apply one dark line. Matching the shade of liner and lipstick is also important and necessary for a satisfying look. The goal is to try to blend in with the natural look and not distract from it.

It is also good advice not to redraw your mouth shape. People can always tell and you may be better off to accept lips that you feel are too small rather than drawing on new ones with lipliner. Exceeding the natural lines of your lips can leave a clown like look to the face. Usually this is not the face women want to put forward to the world.
